How Jay uses AI
What is sent for AI processing, what Jay can do, and where its limits are.
What AI is used for
Jay uses AI to help organise authorised material, answer questions using relevant sources, and support research and preparation. The production AI provider is OpenAI.
What may be sent
Jay sends only the information needed for the feature you choose. This may include your question, relevant excerpts from selected family documents, or selected images. Full source documents are not sent when a smaller excerpt is enough.
Grounding and review
Jay is designed to ground factual answers in your authorised sources and show citations. Parent-entered facts and source-derived information are treated differently. AI output can still be incomplete, misheard or wrong, so check important information against the original source.
No professional advice
Jay provides general information and supportive preparation, not medical, clinical, therapeutic, legal, financial or NDIS advice. It does not diagnose, recommend treatment, decide eligibility or replace a qualified professional.
Safety and human control
Jay applies safety checks intended to prevent clinical advice and to show emergency or crisis signposting when risk of harm is detected. It does not secretly contact authorities or another person about what you write. You decide what to add, which Google Drive files to select, and whether to use an AI feature. You can delete information or your account using Jay's controls.
Provider and location
AI processing is provided by OpenAI and may occur in the United States or other locations used by OpenAI and its subprocessors. Jay records bounded usage and audit information without deliberately logging document or conversation contents in those audit records.
